Conduit Bending II Level 200 - 40 Hours,10 weeks RTC242 This course is designed to improve the skills needed to operate various hydraulic benders. The course will focus on assembly, operation, safety and various manufacturers’ specifications. The types of benders featured in class include the Greenlee 885, 881CT and 882. Prerequisite: Completion of the residential apprenticeship program or Conduit Bending I

DAY CODE REVIEW
Code I This is a 42-hour in-depth course designed to teach the electrician an understanding and the electrical requirements for a safe and proper installation in accordance with both the 2005 National Electrical Code and 2005 Chicago Electrical Code. Instruction will include such topics as: electrical installation requirements, branch-circuit, feeder and service requirements, proper overcurrent selection, and grounding and bonding. The electrical code requirements for special occupancies and special conditions such as hazardous locations, fire alarm systems, health care facilities, and emergency system requirements will be discussed and thoroughly explained. Hands-on training will be provided for the electrical code requirements for receptacle, lighting, and special outlets in both one-family and multi-family dwellings.

DAY ELECTRICAL VECHICLE CHARGING
The Electrical Vehicle Infrastructure course addresses electrical code requirements, rules and regulations, products and strategies concerning Electric Vehicle (EV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). The student will also learn about electric vehicle charging site assessment requirements insuring adequate electrical service capacity as well as the branch circuit and feeder requirements. The student will need to pass a certification final exam to become EVITP certified.

DAY INTRO TO PHOTOVOLTAIC I
Photovoltaic Systems Installation This course will present the theory and installation of photovoltaics. The course format includes classroom instruction and hands-on exercises. These exercises involve the complete step-by-step process of designing, installing and commissioning various PV systems. An emphasis is placed on Code compliance and load calculations. The course also prepares electricians for the NABCEP Photovoltaic Installer Certification exam.

DAY STATE ELECTRICAL LICENSING
Electrical Journeymen State Licensing Class There are several states that require a traveling electrical journeyman to be licensed. This day school class is based on the 2008 NEC rules and regulations and will prepare the journeyman to take a state licensing exam. You will also learn how to navigate and use the 2008 NEC when taking a state electrical journeyman exam. This class does not prepare you to take the City of Chicago Supervising Electrician Exam nor a state electrical contractor's license.

DAY WELDING
This class introduces metal arc welding and flux core arc welding processes. Topics include equipment setup and fillet and groove welds with emphasis on application of GMAW and FCAW electrodes on carbon steel plate. Upon completion, students should be able to perform fillet welds on carbon steel with prescribed electrodes in the flat, horizontal, and overhead positions.

FIRE ALARMS
Fire Alarms Level 100 - 40 Hours,10 weeks RTC143 This class covers the installation and troubleshooting methods of fire alarm and fire suppression systems. Hands-on experience with “hard-wired” and addressable fire alarm systems is given. Wiring and operation of the detection devices, i.e. smoke and heat detectors, water-flow and tamper switches and pull stations are explained along with the indicating devices of these systems.

GROUNDING AND BONDING SEMINAR
Grounding and Bonding in Specialized Facilities. This seminar will cover grounding and bonding and, in addition, areas such as computer rooms, telecommunication rooms, hospital rooms, and more. Tim Arendt and Harry Ohde, who were instrumental in the Chicago Electrical code rewrite, will conduct this seminar. Tim is the former Chief Electrical Inspector for the City of Chicago. This seminar will also cover the NEC 2008 changes to article 250 on grounding. BICSI certified installers and ISA certified technicians will receive 3 CEC’s.

HVAC I
Heating and Air Conditioning I Level 100 - 40 hours RTC144 This basic HVAC course covers the electrical controls commonly used in HVAC and the theory of refrigeration, air conditioning systems and heating principles. The mechanical refrigeration circuit is discussed, and troubleshooting technology is analyzed. The EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification Test is offered at the end of the course for a $30.00 fee.

OSHA/FIRST AID/CPR
OSHA / First Aid / CPR Level 100 - 32 Hours, 8 weeks RTC146 This course trains the electrician to recognize and abate dangerous situations and safety violations in the construction industry. A 10 Hour OSHA Certification Card will be issued upon completion of this course. First Aid / CPR Certification will be included this course.

PRINT READING I
Print Reading I Level 100 - 40 Hours, 13 weeks RTC148 This printreading course is designed to provide a basic overview, understanding and interpretation of residential and light commercial construction blueprints. This introduction printreading course will cover the basic skills required to be successful in reading blueprints. The student will learn the following fundamentals: different blueprint processes, architect scale, engineer scale, alphabet of lines, plot plans, floor plans, elevation, sections, details, symbols, and schedules. Discussion will also include construction material, construction vocabulary and job specifications as well.
