Day School Classes now at the
Alsip Campus
The new Day School classes last from three to ten days. There is no charge for these courses. The class times and room numbers will vary.
There are four different Day school classes. Scaffolding is offered once and the other three will be offered twice this fall.
This review class will be a great opportunity for the journeyperson to enhance their skills in commercial printreading and the Chicago electrical code. The class discussion and exercises will be based on a Chicago public school. Topics will include: riser diagrams, panel schedules, distribution schedules, lighting fixture schedules, lighting plans, and power plans.
2 Week class, Monday thru Friday, 8-12pm, Room 121Critical articles from the Chicago Electrical Code will be addressed and discussed to further the electrical code education of the journeyperson. Articles 90-490 which is the heart and soul of the electrical code book will be explained with special attention given to the branch circuit, service, grounding, conduit fill and wiring methods requirements.
2 Week class, Monday thru Friday, 8-12pm, Room 121This introductory class for renewable energy will target the solar photovoltaic (PV) sector of renewable energy. The student will learn the basic types, concepts, components and language of PV. Basic system identification, sizing, grounding and OCPD will be discussed as well. Note that this is an all day class. A follow up course, Photovoltaic II will be offered in Spring 2011.
